So if you should always chew food well for good digestion? Just like you should cut up fire wood to make it burn better.

It would stand to reason that you should not swallow a whole unpeeled potato.

Why is it that sometimes when you dial a phone number from a land line the phone company sends you a prompt saying, "You must first dial a "1" before dialing this number"?  If they knew that bit of info why could they not just do that for you instead of taking time from your life making you re-dial?

Why are hemorrhoids called hemorrhoids instead of asteroids?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman where the self-help section was. She said if she told me it would defeat the purpose.

If man evolved from apes, why do we still have apes?

My Father always told me;
If you were half as smart as you think you are, you would be twice as smart as you really are. I have to admit when you are under the age of 9 years old, that was quite a challenge.

The math is mixing balance categories:
You borrowed 100$ total: 50$ to mom, 50$ to dad
You paid back 2$, so you owe 49$ and 49$ which is 98$. 98$ plus the 2$ you owe is still 100$. There is no reason to add the 1$ you still have to the total you owe.

Flip it around and use the total spent on the shirt in the same way: $49 + $49 = 98$ + the 97$ you spent on the shirt = 195$!!! Where did the extra 95$ come from!?!

Obviously it came from adding money spent from borrowed cash to the total of the money borrowed, which makes no sense. The only reason it is confusing the other way is because it is so close to 100$.

Tada. Fun riddle though.

I find getting old a bit of a bad thing really, I find it takes me all day to do what I use to do all day.

 Sounds like government math.  I borrow 100 and pay back 2 bucks so I still have 195 to spend.
