Hey everyone, and welcome to SSC.

My name is Kent Stone, and I am your host here at Stone Studio Creations. There is two areas of interest. There is this forum, and the website side as well.

It is planned to offer a shopping cart area on the web site very soon where in stock items can be bought directly from our huge shipping department. (Me and my wifes van). However I may from time to time, offer used or blemished items up for sale here on the forum in the for sale/trade section.

But, some about me. (My favorite subject) wink

I am a slightly overweight 45 year old living just West of Denver Colorado with my wonderful wife, Lynn. She is my world and means everything to me. Without her I doubt that this forum and website would even exist.

I started off in kindergarten art classes. A simple way of saying that I used to draw on Moms kitchen walls. But I never lost my love for art, and making things with my hands. And I did a 28 year stint as an auto body and frame repair technician. And also have worked as an auto painter on and off over the years, and have owned my own body shop at one time. But due to the facts of life of getting older, I have had to leave that line of work. But I will never leave art, it is just to much a part of me.

Hey Stone! Just stopping in for the 1st of what will probably be many visits! I think it's cool that you've started your own web forum. Can't wait to see some pics of the AWESOME ESB Vader helmet you've made for me!

A little about me. My name is Jeff Hubbard. I'm a 501st member with an approved ESB Darth Vader costume. I'm a member of Garrison Excelsior, in Upstate NY. Making costumes is my PASSION! I love the challenge of creating characters from my favorite movies, & bringing them to life in 3-D reality. I got the costuming bug when I was in about 3rd grade. I remember making Stormtrooper armor out of cardboard after seeing Star Wars for the 1st time. My friends & I worked for countless hours creating our suits of armor, & then made a 8mm movie, acting out our favorite scenes in my friend's barn. We wore our armor proudly that Halloween, & indeed made quite an impression with people in our neighborhood.

I've always had an interest in art, & love building things with my hands. There's something VERY SATISFYING about being able to hold something you've created in your hands. Artist run in the family, as my Dad is a retired Graphic Artist, & my Uncle teaches art at the University of Michigan. My artistic talents were noticed VERY early on in school. I was the top artist in my class.

After Star Wars, I started becoming more interested in photography & filmmaking. I was especially interested in how the FX & costumes for my favorite films were made. When I gaduated from high school, I decided to go on to college for filmmaking. At the time, there were no schools that you could go to that had degrees available in Visual Effects, which I was & still am fascinated with. I graduated from RIT with a BS in Film/Video production. Unfortunately, work was VERY hard to find, & I eventually had to look else where for work to pay the bills. My current job, which I've been at for the last 17 years, is Wal-Mart of all places! I'm in charge of the bike area. Basically ANYTHING that needs assembled or fixed comes to me & my crew. I've got 3 people working under me. We get along GREAT, & most days have a good time passing the day away. It's a far cry from what I'd envisioned as my career, but it does pay the bills. Eventually, once my kids are older, I'd like to go back to school to learn more skills that will help me in my costuming endeavors!

My passion for Star Wars, & costuming has never died, & I continue making new costumes whenever I can. My latest effort is a TFU Sith Lord Starkiller costume for my son. I'm slowly making progress on it, & hope to have it completed in time for Halloween this year. I'm also a big fan of Indiana Jones & GI*Joe, & have costumes I've made of my favorite characters from those films. In addition to my Darth Vader costume, I've also got Jango Fett, Indiana Jones, Snake Eyes & a Storm Shadow costumes that I've made.

Kent, thanks for allowing me to share a little about myself. I'm looking forward to checking this forum on a regular basis, meeting new members, & hopefully learning some new skills from you all! Later!

Hey, thanks Jeff.biggrin

This forum is very young right now. It is just you and me mister. I hope that it will serve the public as well as those who have bought things from SSC. I do plan on doing tutorials and the like. But right now I'm just so busy trying to get other things done and ready to go.

Hi Stone! :D

This is so great! I am very excited that you started your own forum! A fellow Garrison member (Trey) alerted me to the forum and the build thread you have going for his new helmet and knew I had to come and see!

Ok, this is an intro thread so I guess here is what is up with me. ;)

I too hit the 45 year mark this year and I am a bit more than slightly overweight but I am working on that.

I have been costuming in one thing or another since I was about 12, which ironically was the same year I saw Star Wars. I wouldnt say it was my sole motivator for costuming as I love all things Sci Fi, but it certainly was a huge influence.

In 2007 I finally decided to do the one costume I had really been wanting to do for years. Darth Vader, and with the blessing of my fantastic wife, Tammy, I started down the road.

In my search I discovered The 501st Legion (had no idea they were out there until then) and saw the good things they did and the smiles they put on kids faces and quickly made the decision to join. This forced me to step up my accuracy on my costumes and before I knew it I was devouring everything I could find on material and techniques to produce all types of costumes and props.

Right now I am working on several projects, such as a Darth Nihilus and a Predator but who knows what the future holds.

I always enjoy watching the real artists work and hope to learn alot of great information here.

Well, I guess thats it for now. :)

Thanx again Stone for getting this forum going!

Hello Stone and everyone else on this forum,

My name is Daniel and I have been a member of 501st for a little bit more than 6 months with an approved stormtrooper costume. Initially I was going to build a Darth Vader costume due to my height being near 2m (6' 5'') but realized it would cost me too much so I went for stormtrooper instead.

After I got myself accepted to 501st however within the week I started the path to my next costume, ESB Darth Vader. Having searched any and all available information I can find I have struggled to get the most accurate pieces available for my costume and while I have gotten a very good way its still a big left to go.

So what do I do personally?
Well to start things off I might have to mention that I am 27 years old and work as a software engineer at a company in Sweden. Pretty much develop mobile phone applications for clients all day long. Apart from that my hobby is to build these costumes for now but besides that I love working with computers or creating stuff, art if you like to call it that, but lacking that unique god given talent and instead have to make up for it with genuine interest and passion as well as my ability to read up and comprehend almost anything.

StarWars has always been my passion of life, although I wasnt aware of it until recently that it had always been the movies I loved watching as a kid.

I think Stone is a most amazing artisan and therefore love watching his work and some day, soon hopefully, trooping in his creations.

/ Daniel

Thanks for showing me this place Stone.

Hi All,

My name is Jason Day - age 33 and I am a Star Wars fan. It has come in and out of my life since birth, but as of 2005 I have been 100%, 24/7 Star Wars.

I am in the 501st Carolina Garrison. I originally only wanted a good Stormtrooper helmet for my collection so I joined FISD just to get the contact info..... within a few months I was hooked and started my Sandtrooper, Biker Scout and TIE Pilot. At the moment I am working on a ANH / ESB Stormtrooper and an ESB Darth Vader.

"Normal" life - a Marketing Specialist for a large international textile manufacturer. I am married and have a 17 month old daughter. Prior to having a "real" job, I was in a rock band in the mid /late 90's and lived out of a van.

Thanks Stone for this cool forum! You work hard and your pieces show it! I will wear them with pride!

Hey Stone and everybody!

Thanks for pointing me into this direction - I am excited to be part of the forum! :)

But allow me to introduce myself: my name is Patrick, I am 39 years old - 40 is just around the corner - married to my beautiful wife Dani and we have three kids, the youngest being 10 days old!
We are living in Germany, south of the beautiful city of Hamburg.

My passion and interest for Star Wars began in 1977 when my mom took me to the cinema to watch EPIV - I was six years old...

It has been two years since I discovered the world of Star Wars costumes and am addicted ever since.
So far, I built up a TIE Pilot, a Sandtrooper and a Commander Cody from EPIII is still in the making, as well as a ROTS Vader where I still need a few more items to finish. I am still hoping that maybe one day one of Stone's beautiful chest armours will find its way to me... wink.gif

What do I do for living? Well, I am an airline flight captain and instructor pilot - simple as that. wink.gif

Hope to have fun with you guys!

Cheers

Patrick

Hi everyone! I'm Willy from a little city in the middle of the Andes it's called Cuenca and is in Ecuador in South America, i'm 22 right now and since I was a child at 9 in 97 in where I saw Star Wars for the first time I became a fan of Vader, he impressed me with his appereance and power and since then I always wanted to be in his boots for a while, right now more specifically in his RotJ boots, so I hope people here can help me with some ideas and info for the work that I decided to restart (I made a scratch build costume in 2005 but right I want something better).

vader costume 2006

This was my costume in 2006 in the house of a friend, that helmet was a voice changer modified i made the dome a little long but i still think that helmet was to tiny for me, and that armour was something really simple and tiny with no shoulders, and with a new one that i made bigger that helmet looks like a joke, that's why I decided to buy a rubies short time later but it wasn't what I expected, so this year i'm starting to work again to make diferences.

Hey that's me in the back!

And tiny head they said!.

Hi Everybody :p

So I'm Alex, I'm from France (next to paris for the moment and Nantes soon). I'm 22 and a I'm a big Vader fan, I collect every silly stuff about him I can find (I'v got the lighter Vader, the necklace Vader, the Darth Tater, the Vader Phone, and so on) and other normal stuff about him (statues, cards...). I dream of a Vader costume since I was 13 when I started doing my first Vader helmet in paper (yes yes, I can find pics if you want ^^) which was a big disaster by the way. So now I'm a grown up and I started my Vader costume like 3 years ago, buying it parts by parts (because I'm still a student so money doesn't come every month) and saving money when I can to complete my costume.

Concerning the Vader version my favorite one is ROTJ but my heart is bouncing with the ESB as well... Anyway, I'm here because I'm determined to find my armor and helmet and I'm seeking some informations about SSC ones which looks great ! (by the way you have done an amazing job :p) before thinking of buying it ^^

Nevertheless, I'm pleased to be here comrades :p

May the force be with you

Hello all,

Firstly, WICKED FORUM Kent!!!

My name is Jeff. I was born in Texas but moved to The United Kingdom  just under 9 years ago.

I started costuming about 1 1/2 years ago after attending a convention and seeing how much of a laugh the troopers were having and I thought that would be great along with my love of the Star Wars movies. I was born in 1970 so like many others here I saw the movies on their first run in the theater and was amazed by all of it. I had to have as many toys as possible back then. Shame I never kept my death star in mint condition :(

I began with the Storm Trooper as our group already had a Darth. soon after he moved to Thaland and everyone looked at me being one of the tallest in our group. I am not actually an approved member of the 501st yet but I hope when I get my Vader together I will get approved.

I really enjoy the trooping and I consider myself really lucky since I live in England we see Dave at at least 2 big troops a year and he is such a great guy that you can sit down and chat to him about the suit and those times he had. I hope to get him to sign the inside of my Vader lid once it is done. Right next to Kents Autograph.
(you are gonna autograph it right Kent?)

I plan on sticking around this forum a long time and in future when I get some more money I would love to upgrade to Kents full armor set.

It all looks so awesome Kent.

Thanks for the Forums

Jeff

Hi all, my name is Carsten and I'm an aaa... err... no I'm not... I'm just insane in the membrane or something similar where you think you are god's gift on Earth only to realize that it's all true and everybody loves you. It becomes very taxing after a while, everybody out to get me and wanting me. Yup. It's that bad. Can hardly go outside the door without getting jumped.

Okay. Anyways. Got the invite, had to check it out, can't believe I haven't introduced myself sooner, but I guess I was fearing that people would just get envious and starting stalking me when they realized I was here.

LOL.

Yeah, delusions are good, eh!? Looks like a fun place to hang out. So... I'm gonna.

Cheers.

Hey everyone. My name is Zach, and I'm from Leavenworth Kansas. I first started my vader outfit a couple years ago when I wanted a really cool Halloween costume. Since then, it's been a constant process of upgrading pretty much everything. I'm looking forward to being an active member of the forum!
