Hello everyone,
My name is Kevin and I have been a Star Wars fan since 1977 when I saw A New Hope at least 13 times that year. I have been reading this forum for a few months and thought it appropriate to say hi. I have been working with Vaderdave to obtain a complete Vader including helmet and shoulder armor from the very talented Darth Stone. I know that I am way back at the bottom of the list buts that's ok. Certain things are worth the wait.
Kent, I am glad that your shop is coming together. It's always hard to start fresh but it will certainly be worth it in the end.
The new place is quite a bit like going to a new job. You have your training, and you know why you are here. But you don't know where anything is and getting a sense of directional flow to your work can be daunting.
But thank you you for your words of praise, and for posting up today.
Hello everyone! My name is Wallace and I am a member of the FL501st Everglades Sqaud. I have a 501st CT and a almost complete ESB Vader. I have been a fan of Star Wars since I was very young, I was born way after the OT was released, but I discovered it through the magic of VHS. I will never forget seeing Vader for the first time ever, I was hooked immediately. I collect a lot of Vader stuff, more so then general Star Wars collectibles. Having an authentic Darth Vader costume has been a very small dream of mine and one that is actually coming true. After my CT was done and appproved, I did some research on making a Vader, I obtained all the parts very quickly and 2 501st members (Garbz sent me) referred me to Darth Stone. I was very impressed by the work, craftsmanship and detail of the helmets. I am also a film student, striving to become a film director, filming is a deep passion of mine and I love making short films. I am anxiously looking forward to completing my Vader, excellent work Stoney!!!
Yikes! Nobody has said anything here in awhile. lol
Well, my name is Tony and I am from Missouri. I wanted to start with a Vader but honestly I became spooked by the sheer detail and scope of what a Vader costume is made up of so I wussed out and decided to start a Stormtrooper project first. Well, my kit won't arrive until December and I have poked and prodded at accessories for my Stormtrooper and studied forums on this kind of craft (which I have never done anything like before) and gained some courage to venture back into the Vader project I wanted to do months ago. I asked around for some suggestions on where to go for the BEST pieces to assemble a fantastic Vader and many people said that Stone was the man to go to if I want to do a top quality Vader build.....so....here I am!
Yup, Vader can be daunting to be sure. But just anything else worth doing, a bit of research will go a long way in helping make it as inexpensive as possible by buying the best that you can find. And by not buying things more than once.
I have been trooping as Vader for nearly 7 years now. And so far it has been the only costume that I just can't retire.
In your last email you said that you would post some progress pictures of the armor set, here on your forum. I don't see anything here, unless I am not looking in the right spot. If pics are posted, can you tell me how to find them?
Hi everyone, I just noticed this "introduction post!" I have been in contact with Stone since August, and put in an order for an ROTJ helmet and chest armor in November. I'm excited to see the final product, Stone! Pete
Like Pete I've been on here quite a while and realizing I should probably take the opportunity to say hi to everyone. Love the work Kent is doing and by the look of things so does everyone else. I'm putting together an ESB Vader with the Capital City Garrison in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I already costume as a Tusken Raider but was looking at doing a marquee character this time around. Hoping to get on Kent's list so he can make some proper armour and a helmet for me. Looking forward to chatting with some of you on here. I already recognize some people as I'm on the SLD forums a lot as well.
My name's Pat. I've been a Vader with Garrison Tyranus for about a year and a half. It's always cool to see other Vader's, to see how different people wear it. Always a good time. I was lucky enough to get an order in with Kent for some new shoulders. I kinda warped mine a bit by leaving it in my car during the summer...it was either that or the summer troop I did when I got to wear an 80 pound snake around my neck. I managed to fix them enough to be wearable, but a new set will be nice. :)
Hi everyone, it looks like it has been a while since anyone has been here, but formalities are part of life, my name is Clive, and I am into more things than I care to admit. I am at this point in time trying to get a costume together to join the 501st, and it looks like I am going to be waiting a while, but I have been told by so many that this is one to try for. I will wait and see when it all starts up again and then probably put myself on the waiting list as well, I too am a very patient person when I am getting things I want. I know what I am aiming for is going to take time, because just good enough is not my entry level, look forward to hearing from you all, and have fun whilst I am at it.
